Software Portfolio: AI Systems & Operator Tools

I was responsible for content across five brands at once. A development company I am a partner in, two franchise brands, my consulting practice, and the products I had built. Every one of them needed to sound like itself, on channels that never stop asking.

None of them could carry an agency. And I am not a social media person. I am an operator. I have run stores, franchises, hotels, and a software company, and in twenty-five years of doing that I have never once had a week where content was the most urgent thing on my desk. It was always the thing I would get to. So it was always the thing that slipped. That is not a discipline problem, and it took me a while to stop treating it like one.

Small business owners have under an hour a day for marketing. Posting is the single most time-consuming thing on the list, and it is also the thing they skip first. The math never worked. It was never going to work.

So I stopped trying to find the time and built the thing that removes the need for it.

Faster output was never the fix. Every AI writing tool works the same way: you type a prompt, you get something back, you are done. Nothing remembers your brand. Nothing accumulates. You are still the one doing the work, just at a higher rate of speed. Twenty prompts a week is not less work than writing, it is the same work wearing a different hat.

One idea should be enough. You should not be starting from a blank box every time you need to post. You should be able to say one thing you want to talk about this week and get back the whole week: the research behind it, the blog post, the LinkedIn post, the Facebook post, the newsletter intro, the short-form script, and the images to go with them, in your voice, sized for the channel that needs them.

Who builds it matters more than what it does. Content software is built by content people, and it shows. It optimizes for the part they find interesting, which is the writing. An operator optimizes for the part that actually hurts, which is the week.

I built Vaunt because I was the one drowning. Not as a product idea I researched, as the thing I needed on a Tuesday. I still use it every week on my own brands, which means it gets fixed the same week it annoys me.
